EAST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A burn ban has been put in place for people living in East Feliciana Parish.

Parish officials said the burn ban went into effect Tuesday Morning, October 14, and will remain in place until further notice. They added that the parish is currently experiencing extreme heat and conditions that could lead to wildfires.

According to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, a burn ban prohibits people from engaging in open burns. Open burning is defined as the burning of material outside on open ground without a container for the flame.
