The American Civil Liberties Union has withdrawn its lawsuit challenging South Carolina’s ban on gender-affirming health care, citing a recent federal court decision .

According to American Civil Liberties spokesperson Paul Bowers, the group decided to drop its lawsuit because of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in U.S. v. Skrmetti , a Tennessee case. The lawsuit opposed a state law that banned puberty blockers and hormone therapy for minors. The U.S. Supreme Court sided with Tennessee lawmakers.
