AKRON, Ohio — A man wanted in connection with a fatal September shooting in Akron was arrested Tuesday afternoon by members of the U.S. Marshals-led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), authorities said.

Timothy Whitthorne, also known as Timothy Lanier, 33, was taken into custody without incident at a home in the 12300 block of Valley Lane in Garfield Heights, according to a release by the NOVFTF.

Officers also recovered a firearm from the residence.

Whitthorne was wanted by the Akron Police Department on charges of murder, felonious assault and having weapons under disability for his role in the Sept. 25 killing of a 27-year-old man in the 1000 block of Rosemary Boulevard.
