London police Const. Robert Rostant could remember seeing Bahaa Ali standing alone near his badly damaged black Mercedes in the middle of Southdale Road.
Ali, he said, identified himself as the driver. And so did other bystanders.
“People were pointing him out,” he said.
Rostant, the first police officer on the scene of the fatal car crash in London’s southwest end on Nov. 3, 2020, was back to testify at Ali’s Superior Court trial Tuesday. He was one of several Crown witnesses who returned to give evidence surrounding the identity of the driver and if there was a possible “driver switcheroo” after the crash that took the life of a London woman.
