Boeing’s 737 is no longer the most-delivered commercial plane in history; its European rival Airbus tipped the scale in favor of its A320 family this month.

But Boeing is continuing its march to recovery as it increases production in its Renton 737 factory. It delivered 55 commercial airplanes of all types in September, its highest number of deliveries for that month since 2018, the company said Tuesday.

In its monthly recap of orders and deliveries, Boeing said it beat its five-year average of 40 deliveries in September and significantly increased deliveries from the same month last year, when it delivered 33 planes.

In September 2018, just before two fatal 737 Max crashes upended Boeing’s production system, the company delivered 87 airplanes.
