HEIDELBERG, Miss. (WDAM) - Heidelberg Police Department Chief Cornell White has shared more about the ongoing investigation four days after a deadly shooting at Heidelberg High School’s homecoming.
“We’re a small town,” said White. “We never would expect something like this would occur.
“But yes, it has.”
The HPD is leading the investigation, alongside the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
The chief said the public has stepped up to help further search for everyone involved.
“The public reached out and helped us,” said White. “We had tips coming in. People was giving us information, so we took that and used it.”
So far, four teenagers have been arrested and charged in connection to the shooting.
“It’s just a senseless act that happened and could have been prevented,” White said.
