Sunday is the final day of the State Fair of Texas 2025. The end of the fair’s 24-day run will also mark the end for a longtime food vendor.
After serving up the Good Luck Black-Eyed Pea Soup and Pork Poppers for 38 years, the time has come for Baileys to say farewell to Big Tex.
Named after their favorite adult beverage at football games, owner Thomas Deschenes says the name Baileys is also a nod to his wife Rose Mary’s Irish heritage.
The food stand has been serving the State Fair of Texas since 1987. It was his wife’s dream to be part of the fair.
Deschenes has done the math and determined he’s spent three years of his life inside the Tower Building.
