COLLINSVILLE, IL. (First Alert 4) - Residents packed a Collinsville city council meeting Tuesday night seeking answers about dangerous chemicals detected at high levels in their drinking water, as the city works on long-term solutions to address the contamination.
Testing results shared last month showed a significant increase in PFAS levels — also known as “forever chemicals” — in Collinsville’s underground aquifer water source . It is far from the only city dealing with this issue . The city has recommended that residents filter water at the tap for cooking and drinking while officials work on a comprehensive solution .
