GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - When kids get online, especially on social media, it opens them up to the world. They are now connected and visible to almost everyone and everything.
“I think we’ve got to be aware of what all they are exposed to and understand that could be anything and it’s a lot of things that we don’t want them to be exposed to,” explains Lori Downs the Pupil Personnel at Barren County Schools.
While students are in school, there are practices in place to limit access to specific sites.
However, Downs says inappropriate sites are being created faster than they can be blocked, and students can almost always find their way around.
The most important step for both parents and schools is to have an open and honest conversation with students.
“Having those open and honest convers
