New York Jets great Nick Mangold announced on social media on Tuesday afternoon that he is undergoing dialysis and needs a kidney transplant.
The two-time first-team All-NFL and seven-time Pro Bowl center revealed on his X (Twitter) account that he has chronic kidney disease and is reaching out to Jets and Ohio State Buckeyes supporters for a donor as none of his family members are a match.
“This isn’t an easy message to share, but I want to be open about what’s been happening with me and my health,” Mangold, 41, wrote. “In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease.
