Oklahoma City voters went to the polls Tuesday, Oct. 14, to decide the status of a historic $2.718 billion bond.
If all categories receive a majority approval rating from the voters, it would set funds aside for 547 projects in 11 areas of the city. Just about half of the funding, $1.35 billion, is slated for sidewalks and streets in the city, but a secondary large portion could be used to prepare the city for a new landscape of professional sports.
The bond will include a request to provide funding for the city’s oldest original MAPS venues, two future Olympic sites and additional funding for a new outdoor stadium. The bond issue also includes $25 million to build out office space for the OKC Thunder in the new arena .
