DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A 20-year-old man in Durham is being held on a $250,000 bond after allegedly robbing a food truck at gunpoint last month.

Jakhi Cox made his first appearance in Durham County court on Tuesday, charged in the armed robbery of Rico's Tamales food truck on Sept. 17.

The case is just one of several police are investigating that have impacted food trucks and their employees across Durham this year.

Back in late January, Arturo Velazquez Chavez was shot and killed while working at the Mexican JV American food truck. His family told CBS 17 he was alone and in the middle of preparing orders.
