PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – After the Portland Bureau of Transportation unveiled the winning names from its snowplow naming contest earlier in 2025, the bureau released the routes for each snowplow on Tuesday amid winter weather preparations.
In January, more than 16,000 Portlanders used ranked choice voting to choose the top names for five of the city’s 56 snowplows. This comes after PBOT held the city’s first-ever snowplow naming contest in 2024.
The five snowplows will boast decals bearing their names and can be tracked in real-time on PBOT’s Winter Weather Center when activated for winter weather. Each named snowplow will cover a different route, according to PBOT.
