MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A school resource officer who played an instrumental role in responding to the Mount Horeb active school shooter incident was honored alongside 98 other first responders for their service at the Wisconsin State Capitol on Tuesday.

“Officer Rosemeyer, without hesitation, engaged the threat, neutralized the situation,” said Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. “Officer Rosemeyer showcased the highest level of bravery and composure.”

In May 2024, a teenager armed with what looked like a real gun tried to enter Mount Horeb Middle School, sending roughly 500 students and staff running for their lives.
