NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Dana Outlaw won last Tuesday’s Ward Six Alderman seat in New Bern, and a week later, the board appointed him to fill the next two months of the unexpired term.

The Ward Six seat has been vacant since July 2024, when Bob Brinson resigned after being appointed to the state Senate.

Outlaw had been recommended to fill the position last year, but the board repeatedly ended in a 3-3 tie on whether to appoint him to the seat.

After being appointed to fill the unexpired term, Outlaw was immediately sworn in and joined the other aldermen.

Outlaw will be sworn in to the Ward Six seat that he was elected to in December.
