MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Tennessee National Guard appears to be addressing its role in Memphis.

The Guard posted on social media Tuesday that they are assisting local law enforcement with community safety patrols, site security, and traffic control in Memphis.

They said over the weekend that they supported the task force and worked with the Memphis police.

The National Guard officially arrived in the city last Friday and was seen in military gear walking with a police officer down Riverside Drive at Tom Lee Park on Friday morning.

The Guardsmen said they conducted community safety patrols, engaged with residents, and promoted public safety in Memphis. • Courtesy of TN National Guard • Courtesy of TN National Guard • Courtesy of TN National Guard • Courtesy of TN National Guard •
