TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The third treatment for quagga ended as of 2 a.m., Oct. 14., according to Nic Zurfluh, ISDA Bureau Chief of Invasive Species.

“During the treatment we’ve been observing quagga mussels in various life stages and we’ve seen a rather profound impact to the quagga mussel population within the treatment area. And it’s looking really really good. We have actually not found any viable quagga mussels since the treatment started,” said Zurfluh

Teams are tracking and monitoring how much copper is within the area and how it dissipates down river, as well as monitoring for quagga mussels. They need to make sure copper levels go back down to pre-treatment levels before reopening the water, which will be within a week or two.
