WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — There is no substitute for experience. That's the idea behind the innovative learning labs introduced in some Wichita middle schools on Tuesday.
The labs provide students with opportunities to work with augmented and virtual reality, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence. Funded by Verizon and Heart of America, the labs aim to foster creativity and exploration beyond the traditional classroom setting.
"If I were to break down the future of education, I would say elementary school is learning by doing, middle school is skill discovery, and high school is skill development," said Rob Dickson, Chief Information Officer of Wichita Public Schools. "So we need to create experiential learning experiences for our middle school kids to kind of understand skill discovery.
