MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Hundreds of correctional professionals were welcomed to the Port City Mardi Gras style — even in the off-season.
Law enforcement officers, jail administrators, and supervisors from the southeast region gathered in Mobile this week for JailCon, a multi-day conference hosted by the National Institute for Jail Operations.
Naturally, Mobile took it to the next level and showed the visitors what the city that originated Mardi Gras is all about.
“It’s really fun because they help serve our community and save lives,” said a young boy waiting for the floats.
"We’re getting the party started early for next year, absolutely,” said LaShanta Williams, who rode in the parade.
