ABINGTON — What a night for Abington.

While celebrating their seniors, the Ghosts defeated Plymouth Whitemarsh, 2-0, at Schwarzman Stadium Tuesday to improve their position in the District 1-4A standings and give themselves a chance at a league championship heading into the final game of the season.

Abington entered Tuesday in the No. 23 spot in the District 1-4A rankings. The win over No. 8 Plymouth Whitemarsh should be enough to secure its spot in the 28-team playoff field.

The win also brings the Ghosts within one game of the Colonials in the Suburban One League Liberty Division standings. Abington improved to 7-2 while PW fell to 8-1. Both teams conclude the regular season Wednesday with Abington visiting Quakertown (4-5) and PW hosting Upper Dublin (6-3).
