An investigating officer in Haryana, who was probing the Rohtak extortion case, allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday, Oct 14, further deepening the crisis within the state police force already reeling from the death of senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar.

Investigating Officer Sandeep Lather took his own life using his service revolver, reported CNN-News18. Lather also wrote a suicide note and left a video message, in which he made serious allegations against the staff officer of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Puran Kumar.

In the purported video, Lather described the ADGP's staff officer as "absolutely corrupt" and accuses him of appointing and transferring officials based on caste affiliations, as per News18.
