BENTON CITY, Wash. – Benton City has been honored with the Outstanding Community in Floodplain Management award by the Northwest Regional Floodplain Management Association.

This accolade celebrates the city's proactive measures to reduce flood risks, enhance river habitats and improve water quality, the Washington Department of Ecology said in a release .

Ecology said the city is being recognized for its swift actions to protect its residents from potential flooding dangers.
