A man in his 70s was rushed to hospital after taking unwell at Edinburgh Airport.

An eye witness reported seeing the male 'collapse' before first aid was administered by staff and nearby persons.

It is understood a defibrillator was brought to the scene shortly prior to paramedics and police arriving at the rank on Sunday October 12 at around 2pm.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they sent one ambulance and to rapid response units to the site.

The unwell male was then rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 2.04pm on Sunday to attend an incident at Edinburgh Airport.

"We dispatched one ambulance and two rapid response units to the scene.

"We transported one male patient in his 70s to New Edinburgh
