Scuba divers Shawn Augustine, left, Chris Van Damme and Jackie Selbitschka, all with Reef Check, an international non-governmental organization dedicated to the conservation of two ecosystems — tropical coral reefs and temperate kelp forests — place instruments recovered from a buoy in a bucket of water on Tuesday to keep them wet until the data can be downloaded.
The data contains information on the salinity, Ph, dissolved oxygen and temperature of the kelp in the 50-degree water of the Salish Sea.
