COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Former Ohio State and New York Jets center Nick Mangold has announced he is in need of a kidney donation.
The 41-year-old from Centerville, Ohio, said Tuesday he has been dealing with chronic kidney disease for the last 19 years and had to start undergoing dialysis treatment this summer. Mangold reached out to the Ohio State and Jets communities as he is in need of a kidney donor with type O blood.
"Unfortunately, I do not have any family able to donate at this time, so this is why I'm reaching out to you, our NY Jets and Ohio State communities," wrote Mangold on social media. "While this has been a tough stretch, I'm staying positive and focused on the path ahead. I'm looking forward to better days and getting back to full strength soon."
