Bolangir police rescued five migrant workers and arrested two accused involved in illegal labor trafficking on Tuesday night.
The operation took place in Kantabanji, a town known for its high volume of seasonal migrant laborers. Every year, thousands of workers from this region travel to other states for livelihood. Many take advance payments from sardars and leave without proper documentation.
Police intercepted a group preparing to leave for another state. Officers rescued five laborers—four men and one woman—from Nabarangpur and Kalahandi districts. None of them carried valid documents.
Authorities arrested Khyamasagar Meher, a sardar from Belpada area, and Dr. Patel, the vehicle driver. Police registered case number 372/2025 and forwarded both accused to court. Investigations are on
