HARRIMAN, Tenn. — Students across East Tennessee got a firsthand look at college life this week through a field trip hosted by Appalachia Sessions , Genesis Generation Foundation's flagship program. It's designed to connect young learners with music, history and career opportunities.

The event is for fifth through twelfth grade learners who are from rural, urban and underserved areas, or first-generation learners. It gives them the chance to explore local college campuses each fall semester.

“Without music in life, what is life,” questioned Fairview School eighth grader Abby Potter. “Literally nothing."
