NORTHPORT, Ala. ( WBRC ) - One person is dead after leading law enforcement on a multi-county pursuit that ended in Northport Wednesday morning.

Hale County Sheriff’s deputies and Moundville Police were pursuing the suspect’s vehicle when they crossed into Tuscaloosa County. It was there that the vehicle’s tires were spiked, ending the chase at Bell Auto Parts located at 410 Bridge Avenue in Northport.

After an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and law enforcement, the suspect died at the scene.

Because of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office’s involvement, only VCU investigators and supervisors not affiliated with the TCSO will be involved in the investigation.
