A well-known music venue and restaurant in Chicago will unexpectedly close its doors for good.

The Promontory has been a fixture in the Hyde Park neighborhood for more than a decade, but the owners announced on social media this week that the venue will close its doors at the end of the year.

"At the end of this year, we will turn off the lights at The Promontory for the last time," the post read.

Their New Year's Eve party will be their last.

In their message, the venue thanked its customers and employees, but no reason for the unexpected closure was given.

"We hope to welcome you in one more time," the venue wrote.
