An attorney representing a 15-year-old boy taken into custody by federal immigration officers says his firm is investigating the incident, while the government argues it acted appropriately in detaining the teen.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the 15-year-old was arrested on accusations of assault after he allegedly threw an egg at a Border Patrol agent following an incident on Chicago’s Southeast Side Tuesday afternoon.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the teen allegedly admitted to the assault when arrested by federal agents. Another 19-year-old was also arrested for allegedly throwing chemical munitions back at agents in the Tuesday incident.
