PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — It may still be spooky season, but Providence is already thinking about Christmas.
The city is holding its annual holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the downtown ice rink, but officials are still looking for the perfect Christmas tree.
They are looking for two spruce or fir trees: a 35- to 45-foot tree for the front steps at City Hall and a 15- to 20-foot tree for the Tree Lighting.
Residents can nominate their tree by sending an email with a description and photo to Allison Barry, the city’s cultural affairs manager.
If your tree is picked, the Forestry Division of the Parks Department will come cut it down and take it away free of charge.
Submissions must be received by Friday, Nov. 7.
