PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Bathrooms in Rhode Island will soon be more accessible for people with disabilities and their caretakers.
Gov. Dan McKee signed a bill into law on Tuesday, requiring all newly constructed buildings to include at least one adult-sized changing station in their design plans.
Facilities must have clear signage, adjustable tables that support up to 350 pounds, and adequate space for caregivers.
The bill also allows exemptions for certain cases, such as when an installation is not feasible or would compromise historic significance.
