WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT

A woman found with severe injuries and close to death was allegedly kept locked away in an apartment by her parents for 27 years.

Identified only as Mirella, the now 42-year-old was just 15 the last time neighbours report having seen her in her parents’ care in 1997 in Świętochłowice, Poland.

But late at night on July 29, police were called to her parents’ apartment after neighbours reported noise coming from inside the home.

“It all started with voices coming from that apartment. It was very late at night when we called the police,” neighbour Luiza told local news outlet Fakt .

Locals were shocked when Mirella emerged from the flat in a critical condition with leg wounds so severe they reached her bone. She was taken to hospital by an ambulance.
