CAMANCHE, Iowa (KWQC) - This week we’re shining a spotlight on Clinton County and this story leads us to the City of Camanche where nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River sits the Camanche Public Library.

The library has been a long-time staple in the community that offers much more than just books.

The story of the Camanche Public Library begins decades ago with the Depue family who built their home in 1943.

By 1965 the Depue’s sold their home to the City of Camanche for $35,000.

The home then turned into the Camanche Public Library opening its doors to the community in May of that year and going on to serve tens of thousands of people in the decades since.

“There’s books, there’s DVDs, there’s audio books, there’s large print books,” said Gail Grim the director at the library
