Residents from Baltimore and Harford counties attended a hearing on Tuesday to protest power lines on their properties.
A judge is helping to decide if Baltimore Gas and Electric will be authorized to construct around 40 miles of new or upgraded transmission lines to import electricity from Pennsylvania.
The plan represents the utility’s solution to replace the Brandon Shores Power Plant when it retires.
Customers currently pay around $6 a month to keep Brandon Shores open. If the project proceeds, that would be replaced by about $4 a month.
