Federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre visited Domtar’s Thunder Bay Sawmill on Tuesday afternoon and toured the facility, meeting local workers on the job site in what he called “an inspiring visit to one of the most efficient and advanced mills anywhere in the world.”
Poilievre’s visit fell on the same day additional 10 per cent tariff on Canadian lumber and 25 per cent on wood products took effect in the U.S.
“Today is a tough day for anyone in the lumber business,” Poilievre said as he outlined the Conservative plan to restore the promise of this country by making affordability the top priority.
