CHINA SPRING, Texas (KWTX) - Let’s just say this isn’t Laney Swaim’s first rodeo, in fact, this was her fourth time competing in the State Fair of Texas and the Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo.

The China Spring junior started showing her pigs in seventh grade.

As for the training - Laney says you get the pig around two months old; you feed them, train them, and at around eight months old they are ready for competition!

Judges look for muscle and presentation and it’s no easy task; these pigs weigh about 250 pounds.

Laney finished in fifth place at the state fair with her Cross pig.

She says this is just the beginning in her FFA career.
