LAPORTE — A person is in custody following a shooting early Wednesday at the local Maple Tree Apartments at 1405 W. 18th St., according to LaPorte police.

Police said they responded to the scene around 1:10 a.m. Wednesday and the shooting victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The local SWAT team was activated and a suspect was taken into custody.

Police did not provide the names of either the wounded victim or shooting suspect.

"This was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public," the department said.

"This remains an active investigation, and our officers are currently focused on working this case," according to police.
