CLEVELAND (WJW) - Jurors resumed deliberations in the murder trial of Bionca Ellis Wednesday morning.

Jurors started deliberations around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after hearing closing arguments. They were sent home about an hour later.

They returned for deliberations at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Ellis is accused of killing 3-year-old Julian Wood and stabbing his mother, Margot, in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle in North Olmsted on June 3, 2024. Ellis has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Defense attorneys say Ellis had a long history of mental illness and presented two mental health experts that stated they believed Ellis was not sane at the time of the attack.

"I believe at the end of the day she should be found not guilty by reason of insanity," said Defense Attorney Fern
