GOSHEN, Ind. (WNDU) - A former Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputy who was charged with felony ghost employment nearly three years ago has been found not guilty.
According to our reporting partners at The Goshen News , William Fackelman was found not guilty following a two-day long jury trial this week.
Ghost employment is where a government employee works outside of their official duties during working hours without consent.
According to The Goshen News, the state alleged that Fackelman had falsified his work schedule with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office while working a second job at Lake City Bank.
Another Elkhart County deputy who was charged at the same time as Fackelman took a similar accusation to trial almost a year ago and was also found not guilty of ghost employment .
