ANN ARBOR, MI — Nine Michigan colleges are in the top 300 colleges in the United States, according to WalletHub’s 2026 College & University Rankings list released Monday, Oct. 13.
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor was ranked No. 46 nationally, above University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Carleton College in Minnesota.
The university was also ranked No. 27 for its educational outcomes.
This year’s rankings were determined based on seven categories: “Student Selectivity,” “Cost & Financing,” “Faculty Resources,” “Campus Safety,” “Campus Experience,” “Educational Outcomes” and “Career Outcomes.”
WalletHub, a personal finance company, used 30 metrics to determine the categories, including student-to-faculty ratio, retention rate and net cost.
