The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting the Mississippi Highway Patrol at the scene of an overturned log truck on Highway 50 near Eulie Drive in Steens.

The crash occurred earlier this morning, and Highway 50 is currently shut down in both directions as crews work to clear the roadway. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.

No fatalities have been reported at this time. Additional details regarding the cause of the crash and the condition of the driver will be released by the Mississippi Highway Patrol as the investigation continues.

“We’re asking everyone to be patient and cautious in this area while emergency responders and cleanup crews work to make the roadway safe again,” said Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
