Rebecca Kutler , president of MSNBC , has been diagnosed with breast cancer but she has a good prognosis for recovery and expects to be away for only a few weeks, the network confirmed.
Kutler informed MSNBC staff of her diagnosis on the network’s editorial call Wednesday morning. She had previously shared the news with NBCUniversal and MSNBC execs as well as MSNBC’s top anchors.
Kutler’s cancer diagnosis was first reported by CNN. Kutler, who has three kids, “also urged her team to take care of themselves and their health — to prioritize their own health even in the midst of an unprecedented news cycle,” per CNN’s Brian Stelter.
Kutler a CNN alum who was named president of MSNBC in February , succeeding Rashida Jones, who had led the progressive news network since 2021 .
