The Port of Thunder Bay continued to bustle with cargo activity throughout the latter part of the summer, with volumes trending ahead of 2024 numbers.
September saw an increase in grain shipments of roughly 500,000 metric tonnes with year-to-date volumes tracking approximately 11 per cent higher than the same period in 2024.
Emily Price, the port’s director of corporate and commercial affairs, said grain continues to lead Port activity, supported by global demand and carryover from the 2024 Prairie harvest.
