As a constituent of Rep. John James, I am deeply concerned by his silence on the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. I am even more alarmed by how the government shutdown is being used as a political tool to delay a vote that survivors and the public overwhelmingly support.

Currently, 217 members of Congress from both parties have signed a discharge petition to force a vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act. This bill would require the Department of Justice to release all documents related to Epstein’s crimes.

Only one more signature is needed. Speaker Mike Johnson has postponed the swearing-in of Rep. Adelita Grijalva, who would be the 218th vote. He cites the shutdown as the reason, but many lawmakers and constituents believe this is a deliberate move to protect politically conne
