Fairfield is planning to place speed cameras in some school zones in town. Police said they expect to place cameras at six school zones.

Local officials have submitted Office of State Traffic Administration permit applications, which are under a 60-day review and pending approval.

Fairfield police said the locations were selected based on crash history, engineering analysis and feedback from the community. More school zones might be added in the future.
