PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence City Hall has weighed in on Tuesday’s Chalkstone Avenue car crash involving ICE agents .

Mayor Smiley is aware of the incident involving ICE agents yesterday afternoon. He understands these are anxious times for many in the community and reaffirms that Providence Police officers do not participate in immigration enforcement and will never ask about an individual’s documentation. The mayor’s priority is the safety and well-being of all residents and ensuring essential city services are accessible to everyone without fear. Providence remains committed to being a welcoming city for all, regardless of immigration status.
