Austin state Rep. Gina Hinojosa announced today that she is entering the Democratic primary for Texas governor. She released a two-minute video on X with the announcement.

In the video, she says, “Our fight right now is against the billionaires and the corporations who are driving up prices, closing our neighborhood schools and cheating Texans our of basic health care. That’s who Greg Abbott works for.”

She says Abbott devastated our schools when he passed the voucher scam and accuses him of taking “$6 million from an out-of-state billionaire, dead set on defunding public education.”

The primary will be held in March and the election is in November 2026.
