CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department released its third quarter report Wednesday that showed a decrease in crime across the city.

From January through September 2025, CMPD saw a decrease in overall crime by 8% compared to last year. Violent crime, which includes homicides, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults, are down 20%.

More specifically, homicides are down 24%, aggravated assaults are down 19%, and robberies are down 22%, according to CMPD. CMPD data also shows that firearm seizures are up 25% and arrests are up 15%, as well.
