ISRO Chief V Narayanan said on Wednesday that India has set a target to land its citizens on the moon by 2040. Meanwhile, India's first human space mission, 'Gaganyaan,' is to be launched in 2027.

Narayanan informed that ISRO is working on establishing the Indian Space Station (ISS) by 2035 and launching three uncrewed Gaganyaan missions by 2026.

The first of these missions, which will include the semi-humanoid robot 'Vyommitra,' will be launched in December 2025. Narayanan was speaking as the chief guest at the 35th convocation ceremony of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, located in Ranchi.

Narayanan said PM Narendra Modi has set a deadline of 2040 for the indigenous manned lunar mission. Under this, we will have to land our citizens on the moon and bring them back safely. A
